To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Zelda franchise, Nintendo unleashed the Anniversary Edition with massive upgrades:
The base game's core four levels are retained, but the Anniversary Edition adds two major new post-game areas.
This is the biggest drawback of playing the ROM.
The Four Swords Anniversary Edition was announced at E3 2011 and released on September 28, 2011, as a free download for the Nintendo DSi (via DSiWare) and Nintendo 3DS (via the eShop). However, the game was only available for a limited time, with the initial download period ending on February 20, 2012. It was made available for a second, even shorter period from January 30 to February 2, 2014, to celebrate the release of A Link Between Worlds .
